News and Announcements - May 2011 Five Nurses Honored During National Nurses Week The awards, given by Gwynedd-Mercy College, recognize nurses who have provided extraordinary service to patients, families and the community. Nurses working in all settings and at all levels within the profession are eligible for nomination. The awards are made possible through a donation by Fred and Nancy Allegrezza, local residents of our community. The Allegrezzas hope these awards will help to raise community and professional awareness of the value and role nurses have in providing health care services in the community. Each recipient will receive a plaque and $2,000. This year's recipients are: -Kathleen Aumendo, BSN, RN, CCCN, director of training and development at Parkhouse Providence Pointe (formerly Montgomery County Geriatric and Rehab Center). -Karen Keyser, BSN, RN, a nurse in the telemetry unit at Mercy Suburban Hospital. -Teresa Long, RN, CCRN, CAN, CRRN, director of critical care and cardiology services at Doylestown Hospital. -Betty Naimoli, MSN, CRNP, a nurse practitioner at Internal Medicine Associates of Abington. -Patricia Wood, RN, a float nurse in the emergency, telemetry, medical-surgical and critical care departments at Doylestown Hospital.
Psychology Club Fundraiser The Psychology Club at Gwynedd-Mercy College is holding a fundraiser on May 1st from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. in the Connelly Faculty Center. It will begin with the showing of a 90 minute documentary film, An Elephant in the Living Room, about the controversial American subculture of raising the most dangerous animals in the world as common household pets. The movie is free and donations will be accepted. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. After the film, the Psychology Club will hold a 50-50 raffle and chances to win a tour of the Eagles stadium, Lincoln Financial Field. Tickets to the Philadelphia Zoo and several other prizes will also be raffled. Food will be available for purchase throughout the event which will end at 4:30 p.m. Parking is available in lot N next to the Connelly Faculty Center.
