What is Mercy Week?

Through social, learning and reflective events, Mercy Week:

  • Celebrates the heritage of Gwynedd-Mercy College and the Sisters of Mercy

  • Recognizes acts of Mercy around the world (and the need for more)

  • Acknowledges YOU, students, as future Distinguished Mercy Graduates.

 The 2011 Mercy Week theme is “Valuing Diversity - Deepening Community

Monday, September 19

Mercy Tea

3 - 4:30 p.m.

Assumption Hall

Calling all tea lovers…help us to highlight our theme Valuing Diversity-Deepening Community as we celebrate our Mercy Heritage with our traditional “Mercy Tea”.

Do you have a special ritual involving tea within your native culture, ethnic background or family? We are looking for members of our community to share their rituals and stories during our annual Mercy Week tea.

Dublin Pilgrimage Reflections

Our Mercy student leaders will share their experiences from their trip to Ireland. Hear about the Conference for Young Mercy Leaders at Mercy International Center in Dublin and the future of Mercy.

The college community gathers for our annual Academic Convocation featuring guest speaker, Richard Madel, who will discuss valuing diversity in our lives as he presents “The First Lecture.”

McAuley Center Breezeway

Participate in the inaugural event of the C.A.R.E. Team (Campus Alliance for Respect and Empowerment) as it partners with various student organizations on campus to expose students to social issues, equality and diversity.

Mercy Week Mass

Mercy Day marks the foundation of the Sisters of Mercy, celebrated around the globe. Join us as we celebrate the legacy of the first Sister of Mercy, Catherine McAuley. GMC wouldn’t exist without her!
