About the Parents' Fund

The Parents’ Fund was created to bridge the gap between tuition and the real cost of education. As parents, we know how important it is that your son or daughter has access to a quality education and campus. That’s our top priority as well, but we need your help!

As part of the Annual Fund, gifts to the Parents’ Fund provide unrestricted dollars that can immediately be directed to the areas in greatest need of funds. Your support not only sets the stage for future parent giving, but greatly assists to improve the caliber of Gwynedd-Mercy College.

The Parents’ Fund supports:

  • Scholarships and financial aid
  • Building renovations and ground maintenance
  • Student support services
  • Academic programs
  • Technology improvements

Gifts of time are also valued. We would love to recruit more parents to help with this effort. It is your volunteerism that makes Gwynedd-Mercy College a success.

Contact Mia McGlynn, director of annual giving, at mcglynn.m@gmc.edu or 215-641-5568 to find out more about giving opportunities and volunteering.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why am I asked to give an annual gift?
The Parents’ Fund is the vehicle through which parents can make unrestricted gifts to Gwynedd-Mercy College. These unrestricted funds are crucial to our ability to address pressing needs on campus such as financial aid, ground maintenance and academic development. Gifts to the Parents’ Fund have the ability to positively affect every facet of the campus community.

Doesn't tuition cover these costs?
Not completely. Tuition covers only part of the actual cost of a Gwynedd-Mercy College education. The rest of the funds come from gifts made by faculty and staff, alumni, corporations and PARENTS!

How much should I give?
No gift is too big or small. You may be interested in joining one of our giving societies. More important than the size of the gift, however, is the fact that by giving, you are showing your enthusiasm and support of Gwynedd-Mercy College. This not only inspires others to give, but your participation is a powerful indication of the strength of Gwynedd-Mercy College.

Why is donor participation more important than the size of the gift?
Publications such as U.S. News & World Report use donor participation as one of their determining factors when ranking institutions. Many prospective students and their families read these publications when considering colleges. Foundations and corporations also use these reports when deciding whether or not Gwynedd-Mercy College is an institution they want to support. Your participation in the Parents’ Fund tells them that you give your support and approval to Gwynedd-Mercy College, and so should they.

Can I make a gift in honor of my son or daughter?
Of course! What better way to tell your son or daughter that you support their education than by making a donation in their name? Not only will he/she receive a note from the Office for Institutional Advancement to tell them a gift has been made in their honor, but your names will be listed in a special publication at the end of the year.
