Faculty Biography
Dr. Robert R. Clewis, associate professor of philosophy, teaches courses in modern philosophy, ethics, philosophy of film and contemporary philosophy. He is the author of The Kantian Sublime and the Revelation of Freedom (Cambridge University Press, 2009) and publishes in aesthetics, Kant studies and ethics. He leads a summer study-abroad program in Brescia, Italy. Dr. Clewis is GMC's pre-law advisor and also serves as assistant coach for the men’s tennis team. He earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy and in French from Wake Forest University, his master's and doctorate degrees in philosophy from Boston College, and a master's degree from the University of Bologna, Italy. He has been a research fellow at the University of Eichstaett (Germany), the University of Tuebingen (Germany), and the Institute for Human Sciences (Austria).
