Institutional Scholarships and GrantsSelection of College Scholarship/Grant recipients will be made by the Student Financial Aid Committee after review of the completed applications. Decisions are based on criteria listed and no additional application is needed. Eligibility is contingent on matriculation in a degree program, full-time enrollment, and satisfactory academic progress. PLEASE NOTE: Students who have earned a bachelor's degree are not eligible for federal, state or college scholarships and grants. Alan Owens ScholarshipThe Alan Owens Scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance to an outstanding student. The student must be enrolled full time and have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and have a record of participation in extra-curricular activities and/or community service. Alumni Association Scholarship in Memory of Mother Catherine McAuleyThe Alumni Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship award offered to one new entering student on the basis of academic achievement and involvement in extra-curricular and/or community activities. Financial need is considered but is not necessarily a determining factor. Preference will be given to children of an alumna/alumnus. The scholarship is renewable annually for three years contingent on full-time enrollment and maintenance of a 3.0 cumulative average. C. Jules and Martina K. Rominger ScholarshipThis scholarship is endowed by Dr. Jules Rominger and his wife, Martina. Dr. Rominger is the Medical Advisor of the Radiation Therapy Technology program. The scholarship will be awarded with preference to students showing evidence of financial need, enrolling in an allied health program, especially in radiation therapy with a secondary preference given to a student enrolling in nursing. Preference will also be given to an Irish student or a European student. Charlotte W. Newcombe ScholarshipA Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship is an award offered to women 25 years old or older who are bachelor degree candidates. Policy of the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation stipulates that Newcombe Scholarships be awarded to women who are academically capable, have serious career goals, are in need of financial assistance and have completed half the credits necessary for their bachelor degree. Eileen McCullough ScholarshipThis scholarship was named in honor of Eileen McCullough, former Director of the Radiation Therapy Program. The scholarship will be awarded to an RTT major who is full-time, shows financial need, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Elizabeth Powers Carlino Nursing ScholarshipThe Elizabeth Powers Carlino Nursing Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student in the College's School of Nursing. The student must have demonstrated financial need and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 in the Nursing Degree Program, ASN or BSN. Elizabeth Powers Carlino Scholars ProgramThe Elizabeth Powers Carlino Scholars Program provides scholarships to two incoming freshmen students. The Carlino Scholars receive a renewal of scholarship funding through their undergraduate educational program which typically includes four years of study. Through a special feature of the program, Carlino Scholars will receive grants for travel/study abroad. Students use these funds for international travel that includes a combination of academic and cultural experiences. Frank and Valie Genuardi GrantThis endowed grant has been funded through the generosity of Frank and Valie Genuardi. Eligibility criteria include full-time enrollment, SAT scores of at least 900 or minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.3 and financial need. This grant is renewable for three years. Golden Opportunity Nursing ScholarshipThis scholarship is awarded to a full-time student enrolled in the Nursing Program, ASN, BSN. The student must have demonstrated financial need and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Griffin GrantThe Griffin Grant has been funded through the generosity of the college's many benefactors and friends. The Grant ranges from $1,000 to $9,000 annually and is awarded to students enrolled on a full time basis and pursuing a bachelor's degree. Students must have SAT scores of at least 850. The grant is renewable annually for a maximum of three years contingent on re-application, continued eligibility, and maintenance of a cumulative GPA of at least 2.3. Financial need, though considered, may not be a determining factor. Gwynedd-Mercy GrantThe Gwynedd-Mercy Grant is a partial tuition award based on financial need. Students must have SAT scores of at least 800 (Math and Critical Reading combined). The Gwynedd-Mercy Grant is renewable annually for a maximum of three years contingent on re-application, continued eligibility, and maintenance of at least 2.3 cumulative GPA. Financial need, though considered, may not be a determining factor. Helen Lafferty Education ScholarshipThe Helen Lafferty Education Scholarship, valued at $1,000, is awarded to a woman majoring in education. Priority will be given to a student who holds a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and who contributes to the diversity of the School of Education. The scholarship is renewable contingent on fund availability. Jane Reckner ScholarshipThis scholarship is available for an adult woman student with children. The student must be a business major, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5, be enrolled at least halftime and prove financial need. John J. Morrone Nursing Merit AwardThe John J. Morrone Scholarship is a $5,000 award given to adult learners enrolled in the associate degree nursing program. Selection is made by the Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing. Josephine C. Connelly ScholarshipA Josephine C. Connelly Scholarship is a partial tuition scholarship available from the Connelly Education Fund for new-entering, highly-motivated students pursuing a degree in education on a full time basis. Academic achievement and participation in the life of the College or one's community are required. Applicants must satisfy all requirements of the admission and the financial aid processes. The scholarship will be renewed annually upon reapplication and maintenance of satisfactory academic progress. Marie-Louise Vermeiren Jackson ScholarshipThe Marie-Louise Vermeiren Jackson Scholarship award is offered to a student majoring in the field of education. This student must demonstrate strong academic potential and prove financial need. The scholarship ranges in amount from $1,000 to $5,000 and is renewable contingent on adequate funding, the student's reapplication, and maintenance of a cumulative GPA of 3.3. Mayor James E. Mullen ScholarshipThe Mayor James E. Mullen Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated active participation in service projects as a volunteer in high school, college and/or other community programs or organizations. Financial need will also be considered, but will not always be a determining factor. Mercy Circle GrantThe Mercy Circle Grant is an institutional fund which provides limited grants for full-time undergraduates who show financial need. Grant availability is contingent on contributions to the fund. Michele B. Elkins ScholarshipThis is a $75 scholarship available for adult students who are BSN Majors, 35 years or older, and enrolled at least half-time. Rosemarie Zaro ScholarshipThis scholarship, named in memory of Rosemarie Zaro '83, is offered to incoming students or currently enrolled degree candidates. The selection committee will award the scholarship to women based on academic capability, financial need and career goals, with special emphasis given to women with children or unique family responsibilities. Russell Jones Scholarship for Criminal JusticeThis scholarship is available for a full-time criminal justice major. Cumulative grade point average must be at least 3.0. Financial need is considered but is not necessarily a determining factor. Sibling GrantThe Sibling Grant is a $2,000 award available for students who are siblings and enrolled concurrently at Gwynedd-Mercy College. Students must be enrolled on a full-time basis and meet all other eligibility requirements. The Sibling Grant is renewable for three years so long as eligibility requirements are met. The Sister Isabelle Keiss Memorial ScholarshipNamed and funded in honor of Sister Isabelle Keiss, third president of Gwynedd-Mercy College, this scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student on the basis of academic achievement, need, leadership ability, and demonstrated evidence of a commitment to community service. The scholarship recipient will be expected to invest time, talent, and energy in the life of the college. The Sister Isabelle Keiss Memorial Scholarship is renewable annually upon reapplication if the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrates financial need. Sister Linda Bevilacqua ScholarshipThis scholarship, named after Sister Linda Bevilacqua, OP, fourth president of the College, is offered to incoming students or currently enrolled degree candidates who are education majors pursuing the degree on a full time basis. The scholarship is automatically renewable contingent on the student's re-application and maintenance of a cumulative GPA of 3.3. Sister Lois McDonough ScholarshipThis scholarship is awarded to a full-time, undergraduate student with demonstrated financial need. Candidates must have minimum grade point averages of 3.0. Sister Marie Denise ScholarshipSister Marie Denise Scholarship awards ranging from $2,000 to $8,000 are based on academic achievement and financial need. The Sister Marie Denise Scholarship is renewable annually upon reapplication if the student maintains a cumulative average of 3.0 and demonstrates financial need. Sister Mary Fenton Joseph ScholarshipThis full tuition scholarship honors Sister Mary Fenton Joseph FitzPatrick, RSM, who established the nursing programs at Gwynedd-Mercy College. It is given to juniors or seniors in the BSN program who are graduates of the College's associate degree nursing program. Sister Mary Gregory GrantNamed to honor Sister Mary Gregory, revered professor and second president of Gwynedd-Mercy College, this grant is awarded to students 25 years of age or older and is based on academic achievement and financial need. Transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.3. The grant is renewable annually contingent on reapplication, maintenance of a 2.3 cumulative GPA and continued eligibility. Financial need, though considered, may not be a determining factor. Turner Construction Company ScholarshipThis scholarship provides a limited number of grants to students who are Business Majors, enrolled full-time, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. W. W. Smith Charitable Trust ScholarshipThe W. W. Smith Scholarship is a $2,500 award offered to academically-qualified students who are residents of the Delaware Valley, give evidence of involvement in extra-curricular and/or community service activities and who demonstrate financial need. Scholarships are renewable annually if students continue to meet qualifications. William Randolph Hearst ScholarshipThis scholarship is available for students enrolled in Gwynedd-Mercy's Nursing program. Preference will be given to persons of Hispanic/Latino heritage. Recipient must exhibit strong academic record and be enrolled full time. The scholarship is renewable annually contingent on re-application, continued eligibility and maintenance of a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Wilma Lynch ScholarshipThis scholarship, named in memory of Wilma Lynch, who desired to assist in the empowerment of underprivileged women, will benefit female minority students with first preference given to nursing students. The scholarship will be renewed annually upon re-application and maintenance of satisfactory academic progress. |
