» Admissions Criteria

The selection of candidates is made by the Admissions Committee whose decision is based on an evaluation of the qualifications of each applicant for a particular program of study. The student is notified of the action of the Committee as soon as possible after the applicant's completed file is reviewed.

First-time Freshmen
First-time freshmen must show satisfactory completion of (or current enrollment in) at least 16 units in prescribed and elective subjects:

English - 4 units
Mathematics - 3 units
Science - 3 units
History - 1 unit
College preparatory electives - 3 units

Freshman must complete the SAT test or ACT test and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Information on the New SAT and New ACT
For freshmen seeking admission to the College for Fall 2006 and Fall 2007, the College will continue to review applications based on the Critical Reading (formerly Verbal) and Mathematics scores. The Writing score will be used on an as needed basis in reviewing an applicant's academic profile. Students may decide to take the ACT test instead of the SAT test. The new Writing section is not required, but may also be used on an as needed basis in reviewing an applicant's academic profile. Over the past few years, our admitted students' average SAT score range has been between 850 and 1100 (an ACT range of 17-24).

In addition to these requirements, International students must have scored at least a 525 (paper) or 195 (computer) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 88 on the Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency (MTLP). Additionally, the College recognizes the STEP Eiken Test. Students with Grade 1st and Pre-1st levels have met English Language Proficiency.
