Apply for Financial Aid
If you plan to apply for financial aid you should complete the 2008-2009 Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1, 2008. It is helpful to have your 2007 Federal Tax Return completed before completing the FAFSA. If this is not possible, provide your best estimate of 2007 financial data. The FAFSA may be completed on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov . Gwynedd-Mercy’s Financial Aid Application is found on page 5 of the Admissions Application or you can click on this link, http://www.gmc.edu/admissions/financialaid/applyonline.php . The completed application with signed copies of your and parent’s 2007 Federal Tax Returns should be submitted to the Financial Aid Office, 1325 Sumneytown Pike, P.O. Box 901, Gwynedd Valley, PA 19437-0901. Gwynedd-Mercy’s priority filing date is March 15, 2008. Applications are, however, received on a rolling basis.
Take Your Placement Test
As part of the admissions process you must take an English and Math Placement test before you can register for classes. The results of the test will assist you and your advisor in scheduling and registering for required English and Math classes. If you took Advanced Placement English in high school and attained a score of at least three (3), or received an SAT verbal score of 650 or more, you do not need to register for or take an English Placement test. Furthermore, if you are a transfer student and have successfully completed a College English course (with a grade C or better) you do not need to take the English Placement test. If you took Advanced Placement calculus or statistics in high school and attained a score of at least three (3), or received an SAT math score of 650 or more, you do not need to register for or take a Math Placement test. Furthermore, if you are a transfer student and have successfully completed a college level math course (with a grade C or better) you do not need to take the Math Placement test. You will receive correspondence on upcoming test dates and times. If you have any questions or would like to register for an upcoming test, contact the Assistant Director of the Academic Resource Center, Stephanie Alderfer, by calling 215-646-7300, ext. 201 or by email at alderfer.s@gmc.edu .
