Associates of Science Degree in Cardiovascular Technology Programs - Enroll Now!
Through the Cardiovascular Technology Associate Degree Program students receive highly specialized training in conducting diagnostic tests and preparing written summaries for physicians. While all enrollees learn about the heart’s anatomy, disease mechanisms, and cardiac pharmacology, students choose to pursue certification in either cardiac ultrasound or invasive cardiovascular technology. Students also receive hands-on experience outside of the classroom by performing diagnostic studies under supervision at a hospital and observing procedures in laboratories. With a CVT Associate Degree, graduates are qualified for a variety of entry-level positions in cardiovascular diagnostic medicine.
The cardiovascular technologist performs diagnostic examinations and therapeutic interventions of the heart and/or blood vessels at the request or direction of a physician in one or more of the following:
- Invasive cardiology-Cardiac Catheterization
- Noninvasive cardiology-Echocardiography
- Noninvasive peripheral vascular study-Vascular Ultrasound
- Cardiac electrophysiology
Through subjective sampling and/or recording, the technologist creates an easily definable foundation of data from which a correct anatomic and physiologic diagnosis may be established for each patient.
