» School of Nursing » Weekend Nursing Option To participate in the weekend program, students must hold a BA or BS in another field and complete required general education courses prior to starting nursing courses. Overall, the nursing department is looking for candidates who have completed chemistry, either at the high school or college level with a grade of “C” or better (does not matter how long ago the course was completed) and a minimum of a 3.0 undergraduate GPA. Nursing courses begin in the fall and are scheduled for four semesters (fall/spring) on Saturdays and Sundays. Students will be required to attend classes and clinicals that are scheduled for 8am to 5pm both days. Prerequisite courses required for entry are: Anatomy and Physiology I and II with labs, Microbiology with lab, Nutrition, Developmental Psychology, General Psychology and Principles of Sociology. Strong grades in these prerequisite courses are required. Please be aware that Anatomy and Physiology I and II with lab and Microbiology with lab cannot be more than 5 years old by the time you begin the Weekend Program at Gwynedd-Mercy College. If any of these courses are more than 5 years old, the student must retake the course and provide the transcript to Gwynedd-Mercy College. At the completion of the program, students will have earned their Associate of Science in Nursing and are eligible to sit for the Registered Nurse Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).
