It is the mission of the Autism Institute of Gwynedd-Mercy College to support scientifically research-based best practices for individuals with autism. The Institute will strive to identify needs, seek appropriate funding and structure, and provide services which will utilize the College's resources to contribute to the development and educational progress of persons on the autism spectrum.

Autism Institute Director Deborah Schadler, PhD, to Present on Panel

As part of Pearl S. Buck International's program "Developmental Disabilities: The Child Who Never Grew," Autism Institute Director Dr. Deborah Schadler will be presenting her personal and professional perspectives on “Special Education Labeling and Vocabulary from the 1950’s to the present day."

Autism Certificate Program

Workshops are held on campus, providing teachers, administrators, parents and college students with appropriate training to work with children on the autism spectrum. Atendees can: increase skill sets through courses and professional development activities (including on-site/in-service programs), earn ACT 48 credits through summer workshop and acquire skills necessary to meet the challenges in the classroom.
