Autism Institute

One in 150 students has a form of autism, and that number is projected to rapidly rise in the next 10 years, making it increasingly important for educators to be aware of the disorder.

The Autism Institute’s mission is to support scientifically research-based best practices for individuals with autism. The Institute strives to:

  • Identify needs for students with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Seek appropriate funding
  • Provide services regarding the developmental and educational progress of persons on the autism spectrum

Workshops are held at Gwynedd-Mercy College and they provide teachers, administrators, parents and college students with training. Professionals working with students on the autism spectrum

can:

  • Increase skill sets through courses and professional development activities, including on-site/in-service programs
  • Earn ACT 48 credits through summer workshops
  • Acquire skills necessary to meet the challenges in the classroom
