EDUCATION
Gwynedd-Mercy College prepares teachers to meet the educational
challenges of the 21st Century. The undergraduate and graduate divisions of the school offer a variety of programs to meet the pre-service and in-service needs of education professionals. The teaching and learning processes and practices are changing rapidly due to research about how the brain responds to stimuli and how teachers can facilitate optimal learning experiences.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
In the Bachelor's program, students have two options for Pennsylvania's Department of Education Certification. These two certificate options are:
- Certification in Grades PreK-4 with Certification in Special Education PreK-8
This program offers student courses in child development, early childhood education, methods courses in Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Math, as well as five courses that cover all aspects of Special Education at these respective grade levels. Students are involved in the Teacher Apprentice Program (TAP) from their first semester on campus. Through TAP, students are assigned to a variety of schools every Wednesday. This gives them the opportunity to work with teachers in the field, observe best practices in Education, and hone their own professional skills. During the first semester of their senior year, students are assigned to Pre-Student Teaching and during their last semester, students spend 16 weeks, full time, in a classroom.
