Business Education

Bachelor's Degree

The Business Education program prepares students to become competent teachers of business and technology in vocational, business or secondary schools. The combination of business and an educational background provides employment opportunitiesfor leadership in the business world as well as in the teaching field. In addition, this degree provides a strong foundation for graduate level studies.

You will be grounded in the “best practices” in teaching methodology and student assessment.  In your senior year you will have a student teaching experience.

The Business Education Degree Program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  When you complete the degree requirements, you will be eligible for Level I Certification, in K-12 Business, Computers and Information Technology.

TEACHING INTERNSHIP

How can you apply what you've learned in business to a new career as a business teacher? Many have found the answer to this question in Gwynedd-Mercy College's Business Education Certification Program, combining business classes with teacher certification.

If you have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, you could begin teaching sooner than you think.  The College works closely with the Pennsylvania Department of Education in issuing an Intern Certificate to qualified individuals that allows you to begin teaching before you finish all of your certification requirements.  Our internship program is one of the largest in the Commonwealth.
