Mathematics

The mathematics program at GMC is designed to provide students with the practical and theoretical knowledge needed to succeed in a variety of mathematics-related careers. There is a steady demand for undergraduate mathematics majors in business, education, finance, insurance and technology-intensive industries. Recent graduates of the mathematics program are employed as: system analysts, teachers, accountants, underwriters, financial planners, stockbrokers and statisticians. Some graduates have also continued on to graduate studies in mathematics.

Our curriculum allows students to develop an understanding of inter-relationships within mathematics and the interplay of problem solving and theory across a broad spectrum of mathematical sciences. Theoretical fundamentals and "real-world" practical applications are emphasized equally.

The world of mathematics has changed dramatically in recent years because of computing technology, and the GMC mathematics program makes full use of this technology in the classroom. Students learn to solve problems with graphing calculators and mathematical software such as Maple, Geometer's Sketchpad and the Internet.

Degree Programs
