Mathematics Bachelor Degree The mathematics program at GMC is designed to develop an understanding of inter-relationships within mathematics and to expose students to the interplay of problem solving and theory across a broad spectrum of mathematical sciences. The program also incorporates the use of technology in mathematics instruction. Students use graphing calculators, computer algebra systems (DERIVE, MAPLE, and other mathematics software) and the Internet to explore the concepts and applications of mathematics. A student can earn a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. The bachelor of arts degree requires two semesters of a foreign language. There is a steady demand for undergraduate mathematics majors in business, education, finance, insurance and the technology-intensive industry. Graduates of the mathematics program are employed as: system analysts, teachers, accountants, underwriters, financial planners, stockbrokers and statisticians.
