Psychology

Bachelor's Degree

Psychology is the study of the human mind as well as human behavior. The psychology program at Gwynedd-Mercy College introduces students to a wide array of topics related to the human experience: human development across the life-span, the link between the mind and the body, theories of counseling, psychology of personality, abnormal psychology, and more.

To prepare students to design their own research and to gain entry into graduate school, students enroll in courses such as statistics, methodology, experimental psychology, and research seminar. As students near the end of their program, they may elect to enroll in an internship which allows them to put theory into practice and to network in their chosen field.

A student can earn a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. The Bachelor of Arts degree requires two semesters of a foreign language. The Bachelor of Science degree requires nine credits in the sciences – computer and natural science.

Graduates in the field of psychology have distinguished themselves in many settings: school counseling, community counseling, hospital administration, law, research and higher education. Gwynedd-Mercy College graduates have also found they are readily admitted into graduate programs in the Philadelphia and the surrounding areas.
