Walter Zdunowski

Director of the Criminal Justice Program at GMC since August 2007

Walter Zdunowski holds a master's degree in criminal justice from West Chester University and a Bachelor of Arts from

La Salle University in criminal justice/sociology.

 

Prior to joining Gwynedd-Mercy College, professor Zdunowski served as the Department Chair of Criminal Justice at the Katharine Gibbs School (April 2006 – August 2007).  He was also an adjunct professor at the Katharine Gibbs School and La Salle University from March 2004 to April 2006.

 

Professor Zdunowski retired from the Montgomery County Detective Bureau having conducted investigations in major crime, homicide and narcotics (1988 – 2006).  He also served with the Pennsylvania State Police in traffic law enforcement and the narcotics division from 1970 to 1980.

 

Upon retiring from the State Police, professor Zdunowski owned and operated a private detective agency for six years in Montgomery County.  In 1986, he signed a two-year contract with the Counter Terrorist Center as an operations officer conducting counter terrorist investigations in Europe and the Mediterranean area.

 

Professor Zdunowski served in the U.S. Army (1966 – 1969) and the U.S. Army Reserve.  He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel upon his retirement from the reserves in 1997.
