Welcome to the School of Allied Health Professions at Gwynedd-Mercy College!

The School of Allied Health Professions aims to achieve its mission through cutting edge health care programs with real world experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom setting. With its specialized laboratories and majors as well as the close partnerships with health care institutions and professionals, students learn to apply classroom education in clinical settings. PROGRAMS ARE A BLEND OF CLASSROOM AND CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

All allied health programs provide a unique combination of clinical experience, with the liberal arts and sciences, and professional classes.

Students take courses in the liberal arts and sciences to develop a clear sense of professional ethics, strong interpersonal and communication skills, leadership skills and technological skills

Professional courses teach students the required knowledge of the health care discipline.

Clinical courses allow students to apply classroom knowledge, work with professionals and patients and network for future employment opportunities

Over 125 health care facilities provide a wide range of clinical experience and exposure to many systems and high technology

  1. Rapid growth in health care careers is expected well into the 21st century
  2. Health Information Management professionals are sought after with the development
    of the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  3. Radiologic Technologists are in demand in hospitals, doctor's offices and clinics especially those who have specialties such as MRI, CT and Nuclear Medicine Certification
  4. Cardiovascular Technologists will continue to be in high demand because heart disease continues to be the number one disease in the U.S. due to the aging population
  5. Future job prospects in health care are excellent due to the aging U.S. population
  6. Many areas of the U.S. have a shortage of qualified health care professionals
  7. There is a national shortage of Medical Laboratory Scientists to work in hospitals, private laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, research and public health.
