Responsibilities:        

  • Acts as liaison between the President and all constituencies of the Gwynedd-Mercy College community, both internal and external.
  • Maintains confidentiality about matters pertinent to the President and Office of the President, both personal and professional.
  • Coordinates and directs all secretarial activities of the Office of the President.
  • Maintains communication with the President when she is off campus regarding calls,
    correspondence and college related matters.  Reports disposition and/or delegation of said matters as appropriate and, when necessary, ensures timely response to pertinent issues.
  • Schedules meeting room equipment and refreshments for meetings held by the President and ensures proper set-up.
  • Provides personal assistance to the President on occasions where the President is out of town on College business or otherwise engaged in College business.
  • Prepares agenda for Executive Council Meetings.
  • Ensures that the President is properly prepared with necessary paperwork and backup materials for meetings, speeches and other contacts with internal and external constituencies.
  • Arranges special events, both social and business, for major College functions under the auspices of the Office of the President.
  • Maintains working relationships with President, Board of Trustees, Executive Council and all constituencies of the College as well as college presidents, heads of professional associations, the general public, benefactors and friends of the College.
  • Provides support and assistance to other members of the Office of the President as time permits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 3-5 years secretarial experience at a senior management level
  • Proficiency with at least one word processing program, one spreadsheet program, one database program and one presentation program.  Ability to use electronic calendaring products and other office procedures to organize work flow
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and listening skills
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to relate effectively and professionally with others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness commit to the Mission and Values of Gwynedd-Mercy College is imperative
