» Human Resources » Job Opportunities » Open Position Dean, School of Arts and Sciences Gwynedd-Mercy College invites applications and nominations for an experienced academic leader with energy and vision to serve as the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. Review of applications will begin immediately and the Dean will assume office in Summer 2008. Gwynedd-Mercy College is an independent Catholic College of 2700 students located in Montgomery County, outside of Philadelphia. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the chief executive and academic leader of the School. The Dean works collaboratively with the faculty and senior leadership to shape the vision for the School within the mission and strategic plan of the College, generates resources to support that vision and provides strong leadership to the School’s division chairs and faculty. The Dean, along with the division chairs, is responsible for the development and evaluation of faculty and academic programs as well as budgeting, fostering a culture supporting research and scholarship and upholding excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate, preferably in a discipline offered by the School, with exemplary teaching and scholarship; proven administrative leadership experience in higher education, 3-5 years minimum progressive experience; evidence of leadership in academic program development; ability to work with colleagues at all levels and commitment to the mission of the College.
